Cotinus coggygria 'Royal Purple'
Royal Purple is a compact variety of smoketree that produces dramatic coloration all season: from maroon-red leaves emerging in spring, soon followed by small yellow flowers, to long-lasting, pinkish-purple, smoke-like airy seed clusters in summer backed by purple leaves that turn scarlet in fall.
Use as a single, eye-catching specimen, en masse, or as a screen.
