Koelreuteria paniculata
You couldn't ask for a better group of small trees. Their yellow spires are unmatched by the blooms of any other tree, and their shade is light enough to allow grass to grow under them.
Their compound leaves make them almost fern-like. But what really makes them outstanding is their bloom - tremendous panicles of yellow flowers mid-to-Late Summer.
About a month after the blooms fade, they develop clusters of paper, light green pods.
*Mildly Deer Resistant (if deer are hungry, they will eat nearly anything) *
