Magnolia soulangiana
The Saucer Magnolia is an upright, deciduous, spreading shrub or small tree with obvate, dark-green, 8" leaves and large, goblet-shaped, fragrant 3-6" flowers -- varying from deep rose-pink to violet-purple or pure white -- in mid- and late spring.
Protect from too much sun by planting on the north side of a house or to the north of established pines. If you do not want multiple stems, prune them out to create one dominate truck while the plant is still young. In later years, prune lightly after the flowering period.
* Deer Resistant * Attracts: Birds, Bees & Butterflies
