Carya illinoinensis 'Pawnee'
Type I Large. Soft shell, high kernel percentage. Pecans from this variety are early enough to have a distinct advantage for the Thanksgiving and Christmas markets. It matures about two weeks earlier than Mohawk.
The tree is strong and vigorous. Can be pollinated by Wichita, Choctaw, Stuart, and most late pollen shedding varieties. Ripens September 10 - 25th.
Note: It takes Type I and Type II to cross pollinate. Should bear in 7-10 yrs after planting. * Deer May Browse *
