FLOWERS: Greenish, purple flowers hang above the leaf in early summer. Very distinct.
LEAVES: Opposite with serrated margins. Tapers to the base. Light green and up to 3" long.
FRUIT: Beautiful red fruit in late spring-summer displayed in what appear to be little candy boxes. Hearts-a-busting comes from the fact that many marriage proposals come in the time of year when these nice fruit are present.
GROWTH HABIT: Cane type growth that reaches 3' to 6' in height. Spreads by underground runners.
