Perovskia atriplicifolia

Although it is known as a ñsage,î this pungent perennial is a sub-shrub native to central Asia. It is not commonly used in cooking. Its airy spires of soft, lavender-blue flowers appear in summer and last till autumn, contrasting with handsome silvery foliage. It lends a light, airy appearance whether used as a back border, hedge, or filler. Grows in any sunny, well-drained location. Cut back after frost, or leave standing for winter interest. No pest or disease problems. Hardy in zones 5a - 9b.
