Aspidistra elatior 'Milky Way'
Milky Way is an evergreen rhizmatous perennial maturing at about 2' tall with a 3' spread. It has long, strap-like leaves with pale yellow stippling, and in summer produces an exotic flower -- an 8-lobed, cream-colored bloom with a dark maroon center.
This plant is hardy in zones 8a- 10b, though it is usable in our zone 7b when put in a protected place or/and is sheltered over winter. Otherwise, it's tough (hence its common name). Will withstand most forms of neglect. A great container plant for a mostly shady area.
