This is a large, evergreen shrub or small pyramidal tree with shiny green leaves. Its dense growth make it an excellent screening shrub, but not a good choice for planting close to your house due to its rapid growth.
In the spring fragrant flowers adorn this plant, followed by dark blue-black berries in the summer. These berries (drupes) adorn the plant in the fall and winter months serving as food for the birds.
Drought tolerant, this plant also tolerates deer, rabbits and other creatures because of its high concentration of hydrocyanic acid content.
*Deer Resistant*. Although drought tolerant, it does best in moist soil.
