Its arching stems support large, glossy, evergreen leaves.  These dark green leaves turn to purple-green color in winter. 

The April flowers of Coastal Leucothoe are very small and occur in bell-shaped racemes.  

The flowers are white to pinkish white in color.  Best grow in sites with morning sunlight.  Slow grower until established.
