Podocarpus macrophyllus 'Meta'
This excellent small evergreen tree looks like yew, but it originates in Japan. It does well as hedge or screening material in southeastern USA, where it is not so vulnerable to winter freeze. Very unique specimen. Does well on slopes. Can even be grown in containers.
It does particularly well in the Carolina coastal plains. Withstands city conditions.
Useful to contrast foliage and form in mixed planting and for espalier.
